A (very) Brief History of "May The Formal Be With You"

Hi! It's Mr. Bloodworth, your friendly neighborhood math teacher. If you know me you're probably not too surprised to hear me talking about Star Wars, but you probably think it's kind of weird I made a blog about the 8th grade formal. So here's the story. Some of the other teachers and I were talking about the theme for the 8th grade formal in May, and I had this great idea: We could do a Star Wars theme! Ms. Russ was skeptical, but said that if that's what the 8th graders wanted, she'd make it happen.

So how about it, guys? Don't you want to see the cafeteria done up like the Mos Eisley cantina? Don't you want to take pictures with light sabers at the photo booth? Don't you want to use Jedi mind tricks to make Coach Case play the songs you like? Don't you want to see me dressed up like Chewbacca, or Yoda, or some other Star Wars character chosen by you and your fellow 8th graders. Because I promise that if this thing happens, I will dress up. I've done it before.

A Midsummer Night's Theme

To be clear, I am doing this as "Mr. Bloodworth, fun person", not "Mr. Bloodworth, BMS math teacher". If a Star Wars theme is not what most 8th graders want, it's not gonna happen, and I'll be ok with that. It's your event and it's much more important that it be fun for you than for me. Still, I sincerely believe a Star Wars theme for the formal can be fun for everyone. #maytheformalbewithyou
